What is Neurofeedback?
-
Neurofeedback is a non-invasive method of training the brain using real-time information about its activity. It helps the brain recognize inefficient patterns and gently shift toward more regulated, efficient activity.
At NeuroVita, neurofeedback is guided by objective, accurate, neurological data and personalized to each individual. It is not stimulation, and it is not medication. It is a learning process for the nervous system.
-
Sometimes symptoms are not caused by structural problems, but by inefficient patterns of activity that can alter the way the brain functions.
Inefficient neurological patterns may contribute to:
Difficulty focusing
Heightened stress or anxiety
Poor sleep
Mental fatigue
Slower recovery after concussion
Headaches or migraines
Performance plateaus
When the brain becomes more regulated, many of these challenges can improve.
-
Your brain is constantly producing electrical activity called brainwaves. These brainwaves influence how you think, feel, focus, sleep, and respond to stress.
Neurofeedback works by:
Measuring brainwave activity using sensors placed on the scalp.
Providing real-time feedback (often visual or auditory).
Allowing the brain to self-adjust toward more balanced brainwave patterns.
The brain naturally prefers efficiency. When it receives clear feedback, it begins to reorganize itself in a process known as neuroplasticity.
Neurofeedback does not force change. It teaches the brain how to regulate itself more effectively.
-
Remote neurofeedback consists of brainwave training sessions that you can complete from the comfort of your own home or on the go with a portable, wearable EEG device.
The device connects via bluetooth to your smartphone or tablet.
The initial evaluation is completed in-person at our office and the rest of the therapy happens whenever and wherever is most convenient for you.
You’ll receive personalized training protocols, expert oversight and guidance by our highly trained neurofeedback expert, Dr. Jess Tolentino, DC, QEEG-DL. She will meet with you regularly via tele-visit to ensure that you are progressing through the training and moving toward your goals.
-
Remote neurofeedback is used because it:
Increases convenience (no commuting)
Allows more frequent sessions
Supports long-term training programs
Enables our doctors to work with patients and clients who may otherwise live too far away
-
Neurofeedback sessions are calm and comfortable.
Small sensors are placed on the scalp by wearing a cap.
You sit and watch a video, listen to audio, or play a game on your phone or tablet
The system provides feedback based on your brain activity.
There is no pain or stimulation.
Many patients describe sessions as relaxing and settling.
-
It is NOT electrical stimulation.
It is NOT invasive.
It is NOT a one-size-fits-all program.
At NeuroVita, neurofeedback protocols are based on measurable findings, they are not preset templates.
-
At NeuroVita, neurofeedback is part of a broader neurological care model.
We begin with:
A comprehensive neurological consultation
Functional assessments
Quantitative EEG brain mapping
An in-depth review of your data with our expert, Dr. Jess,
This model allows us to understand how your nervous system is functioning before designing a neurofeedback training plan.
Your protocol is adjusted based on your response and progress, not on assumptions.
-
Neurofeedback may support individuals experiencing:
Stress-related dysregulation
Attention and executive function challenges
Sleep disturbances
Post-concussion symptoms
Chronic neurological stress
Headaches or migraines
Cognitive performance concerns
But you do not have to be suffering from symptoms to benefit from neurofeedback. Many individuals seeking to optimize their brain and body’s performance can also experience the benefits of neurofeedback.

If you’re curious whether neurofeedback may be appropriate for your goals, we recommend beginning with a free 15-minute consultation with our expert provider.
